Slideouts issue/concern

Good evening everyone..

2 of slideout are showing signs of wear and tear on the bottom floor of the slideouts, specially the edge. im attaching pictures to expect some feedback/suggestions as to what to do to prevent wood from rotting and eventually coming apart. as it looks, its not a solid plywood floor, it looks more as an OSB type of plywood (bad choice by manufacturer)

If anyone can help with this matter, it will be grestly appreciated.

Elsir.....

I’ve got a 2010 Georgetown and just took the attached photos of the underside of one of my slides which is very similar to yours with support arms and the plastic conduit for electrical wires.

You’ll see the underside of my slide is covered in fibreglass as the final coat.....not wood of any kind. I think someone forgot to apply the final wrap on yours.

I have a 2013 Georgetown XL 378. My 2 opposing slides each have the OSB boards but have a paper type backing. That paper backing started to wear through and into the OSB board. I contacted Forest River and the shipped plastic glide pieces that fit on the end of the OSB boards. They also sent small rollers that lifted the slides up a 1/4" to prevent the boards from wearing out. A local dealer installed them at no cost. This was a year and a half ago.
Maybe if you contact Forest River they may send you the plastic glides and rollers for you to install.

We also have a 2011 378 and have the same exact issue. A repair was attempted but it failed almost immediately. Thanks for the information on the plastic slides. I will also contact FR . Thanks again.

I wonder if you could buy some flat UHDPE flat sheets and glue it on for it to slide on

This problem along with suggested solution was recently discussed on this forum on 3/27. Do a search for slide separation. I had this problem on my 2013 378 a couple years ago and posted pictures of the solution I used when it was discussed on March 27 of this year. Forest River has metal plates to correct this. I installed mine a couple years ago and have had no further problems since installing them. If you are unable to find the old post let me know and I will try and find pictures to post again.

I would suggest coating the wafer-board with a good high quality exterior black paint. Then install the metal plates which will keep the wafer-board from getting any additional wear as the slide will be riding on the plates when the slides go in and out. As long as you get the wafer-board sealed to avoid any water from getting on I think the plates should correct your problem.
