2011 Georgetown Upholstery
So as everyone knows the upholstery sucks. We just bought this RV in June & really it's just the 2 front bucket seats that's flaking. So I have a upholstery shop that says they'll redo them for $300ea. Not sure if that's a good deal or even a fair price. Also he wants to use Marine grade cause he says it'll hold up better. Do I really need that???
Thanks...Dean

We bought seat covers from Camping World, 2 for $60. I know it just hides the problem but we have the dinette to recover and then the jack sofa is next. Marine grade is the way to go, it should have been that way from day 1.

When we bought our 2014 378 we needed to have all of the "soft" goods redone. Euro recliner, sofa, and both captain's chairs. I believe we paid $2,400 for everything. Foam, coverings, and a "custom" stitching design. $300 a chair doesn't seem to exorbitant.

I had some furniture I wanted recovered a few years ago and it was going to cost more to recover than buying new. So on a whim I took an upholstery class at the local community college. For me, two things to overcome, having the right machine (it needs to have a walking foot) and learning to sew. For the machine, you can buy new ones on Ebay for $350 or less. The sewing just takes a little practice. The rest is pretty easy. Basically your old seat cover is the pattern for the new cover. Take each little piece apart at the seams and lay it out on the new material.
Obviously this isn't for everybody, but if you are like many RV owners, you have that DIY mentality built into you.

Several people with Georgetowns have recovered their captains chairs and couch themselves. Williamsburg furniture will sell replacement covers directly to you if you are interested in doing it yourself. Could be an option even if you paid someone to do it for you. I redid mine and its not difficult. If you do a search on this forum you should be able to find lots of information as I remember there was one member whom included photo’s. I paid around 275 for the new factory pre sewn material for my two seater approx 68” sofa / sleeper in my Georgetown 378 and I think it was around 125-150 for new material for each front seat. The contact at Williamsburg furniture is

Nappanee, In 46550. You will need the part number of your seats which you should find on bottom of seats there will be a paper tag in your springs. Mine was on bottom of passenger seat. The part number for the couch was on the seat cushion tag. They have several different replacement colors available to choose from and I’ve read they have sent others samples to look at to determine the color they wanted.

Looks good,WVPhil, but is the new material the same junk that was originally used. I don't want to do it again in 3 years, which is how long my upholstery started to show signs of pending self destruction.

Short answer is “I dont think so”. From my understanding the original material defective was from around 2010-2014 model years. I heard it was not just a forest river problem it was across several manufactures who used the same material source. I recovered my front seats approx a year and a half ago and they are holding up very good. I just got around to covering the couch last month over the holidays so will see how it does next camping season. The new material appears to be of better quality. I’m satisfied with mine.

I needed a part called the "striker" from Williamsburg which latches the L shaped part of your typical L shaped sofa set up into a locked position while the slides are in and traveling. Melody was fantastic at finding the part I needed. I just sent her pictures using my cell phone under the sofa showing the part I needed and also the Williamsburg model number. She shipped the $2.50 part to me no charge. Great customer service!

I just ran across this site you
might look at, I have a 2011 Georgetown with bad seats also, this place builds new replacement seats and seems reasonable.

Depending on where one lives, I have also heard of folks traveling to Elkhart Indiana, RV capital of the world, and get their rigs outfitted with new furnishings right from some of the RV furniture factories there. I believe Flexsteel has a facility in the area which intrigues me should I be in the position too of having repair/replace my furnishings.

Covers look great! Are they from Williamsburg Furniture, or did you go to a local re-upholsterer? Would you care to share the cost too?

UYAWNT2 that seems to be very reasonable, certainly less expensive than replacing the three pieces. For the Euro chair, maybe splurge on that and buy a new piece, there are many online, to use as a contrast and it would be better than the one from Forest River.

Ours is a 2015, however I contacted customer service through their website. They were very polite. They requested I take pictures of the problems along with the seat cover number.
About a month later a big box arrives both the driver and passenger seat replacements and the couch replacement. I haven't put them on yet, I'm riding the old ones out until the end...or until we sell for a newer model.
