2014 378 - Rear Air So Loud

The rear air unit on my 2014 378 works great but is so loud that we cannot hear the tv even at full volume. Is this "normal". Anyone else experiencing the same issue.

Ours is loud also but if you keep the quick cool closed its not that bad. Looking at adding a sound bar to that tv.

Ours is loud as well. We purchased a Vizio sound bar from Amazon for $69. Works great and fits on top of TV without interfering with the slide. Also has Bluetooth so DW can play music from her ipod.
I used the 3M picture hanging Velcro to mount it on the top of the TV and have had no problems with it staying in place.

For me its mostly too loud for sleeping. Our solution is to run both front and rear units set at 72 until just before bedtime. Then I set the bedroom ac down to 68 for about half an hour with the "quick cool" open, then shut it off for the night. We leave the front ac on with the "quick cool" closed so that cool air comes out of the ducts in the bedroom quietly.

Mine was loud also and when I removed the cover I found a manufacturing mistake that made it louder than it should have been. When I fixed the error it got a lot quieter. Is it possible you can take off the cover, 4 screws, and take a photo looking up at it? I'll get my photos together and start a thread. It's possible others were put together wrong and making a lot of noise.

I had a ticking/popping noise coming from ours bout drove me crazy at night. Pulled cover from ceiling and found the foil tape loose and flapping against housing when running. Corrected that and no more ticking noise. But it is still too noisy overall. I can hear tv though. Just turn it up some.

Quick cool is what people are calling it when you open the lovers, vents, on the unit itself. Lots of air comes out of the unit instead of being directed to the ducts but it is noisier. If you close those 3 vents the air will only come out the ducted vents and it will be quieter.

Rear air so loud

Any cautions on using the louvered air "quick cool" as opposed to the ducted air? Our dealer tech told us not to use the ducts-bad for the entire system?!

Never heard that, never read that. If it was bad for the system i'm sure the manufacturers would not want that liability out there. Now, if you close the quick cool vents and start turning off the louvers in the ducted vents it could cause some backlash and put a load on the motor and that could be bad. But quick cool vents closed while all ducts open is fine.

The sound is horrid. Have 2012. 378. So what is the best way to remedy. Do all TV connect to a sound bar.
Thanks...anxious to hear....from you

Both of ours are pretty loud so we run the rear during the evening "TV time" and the front while sleeping. Running the rear in the evening cools the BR down nicely before bedtime.

Occasionally, it will get hot enough that we need both for a while but we don't camp in 100 degree weather.

Maybe a chance your air conditoner was put together wrong. Mine was. See this thread I just posted. It's worth a look at your unit.
