2015 Georgetown Horse Power

Got into a discussion with a sales person the other day and told him about our 2015 Georgetown 329 DS and was looking to trade it. We got on the subject of horsepower and he stated that all F53's have 320 horsepower. In looking at my Ford Manufacture's sticker it states I have a F550 chassis with a 6.8L, 3V V10 362 horsepower. Looking at NADA for 2015 models it also states 362 horsepower. However, NADA also states that a 2018 model has 320 horsepower. Sales person stated that all late model Georgetown's have had 320 horsepower for many years. Did or does FR change HP after they receive the chassis? What is my true horsepower?

Salesperson probably worked at Walmart last month.
Ask him what kind of motorhome he owns.

I’ll go with 362hp, but I’ve never had it professionally measured.
Mine’s the Ford V10 3 valve design with the 5 speed transmission.

NADA might be good help with cars, SUVs, pick ups etc....
Ford F53......not so much.

No changes for Forest River. Ford made the change due to adding a 6 speed trans and re-tuned the engine which dropped the HP but added torque. It now runs much better with the new trans, not as much jerking an less times having it rev so high.

2015 Georgetown Horse Power

I don't think the horsepower changed but what RPMs the horsepower is measured at. 5 speed versions are measured at a higher RPMs so it will read a higher HP and lower torque. The 6 speed version is measured at a lower RPMs so it reads a lower HP but a higher torque on the HP/torque curve. I think the HP and torque are measured at the rear wheels and not the engine.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

That seems to be the case. These V10s are good for life if taken care of with very few exceptions. [emoji106]

I have a 2012 Sunseeker with the V10 5 speed transmission.
I bought a tuner which reprofiles the transmission and engine giving more torque and hp. and allows much lower reving and better overall performance.

I can believe the 3v v10 362 hp but the thing that jumped out at me was a class A on a F550 chassis?

Billr is correct, Ford revamped the torque/horsepower curve to make better use of the extra gear in the 6spd trans. A person I traveled with had the exact same year and model as I, with the exception of his was built on a '15 chassis and mine is a '16. I will walk away from him on a hill and not go above 3000rpm, while he's pushing 4000. It's all in the low end torque and the added gear.

I pulled the factory build sheet for our so called F53 chassis, a 2011 build date for a 378F (now XL). The build sheet very plainly in very bold letters says, F550. No where on the sheet does it say F53. Go figure.
