2017 Georgetown GT5 36B5 Grey Tank Not Draining

Hello,

Need a little assistance. My front Grey water tank is not draining (water backed up into sink and shower. The handle slides in and out smoothly; however water is not draining.

Tried putting boiling water and dawn soap down both shower and sink drain with no success.

appreciate any help.

Do you have one gray tank or two? If two, does the other one drain normally?

Does the handle seem to move the same way it always has?

Do you have anything you could use as a plunger? Maybe a small plastic bowl or storage compartment? I wouldn't put too much force on it at first.

2 grey tanks

Yes I have 2 grey tanks, second tank works fine.

I've tried plunging … if I plunge the sink it, it backs up into the shower … if I reverse process its the same (shower to sink).

I've tried tapping the handle for the grey tank (incase it was stuck) … seems the same as far as sliding in and out; however I'm unsure if the blade is actually moving.

Since nothing is coming out, make sure the black valve is closed and then remove the hose. See if you can see up the fitting with a mirror and a flashlight (or your phone camera in "front camera" mode) or take something flexible and see if it goes past the gate valve. You can compare the distance to the closed black valve.

It's either a blockage after the drains and before the gate valve or the valve is not opening.

Oh, and you might want to wear gloves.

Unfortunately there are times when the piece drilled out for the pipe is left in the tank and gets lodged in the hole.
Using a plunger,is not usually advised with these tanks may cause a blowout.
If you have a plumbing snake you could try working it up the pipe and try to dislodge the obstruction.
Gloves and eye protection is advised.
Good luck

And if that doesn't do it...

And if that doesn't do it, you will have to simply remove all four bolts on the sandwich that holds the valve. It's easy to do.

You can either take the bolts out and let the gray water flow out or just loosen them and catch the water in five-gallon buckets. Once the bolts are free, you can pull the valve assembly out and see if the gate is still connected properly, and snake for a clog upstream if necessary. Re-assembly is easy. You don't need tp use new seals. If the valve is broken, they are available inexpensively on Amazon.

When you get it draining, please post what the issue and resolutions were.
