364TS water heater switch

Newbie here. I have a 2016 364TS. The switch panel right across from the bunks which has the water heater switch has a red light next to it (it says reset underneath it) When I turn the water heater on, the red light goes on but it turns off after a few seconds. Is this light supposed to stay on? Also, am I supposed to turn water pump on only if I am using the fresh water tank or should I be turning it on even when on city water?

The light flashes a code to tell you that the gas water heater is working properly. I think the manual explains it.

The gas water switch when turned on makes the light turn on until it lights.
I guess if you have any issues and it doesn't ignite the light will stay on.
So it should come on for a few seconds then goes out is normal operation.

Water pump should only be turned on when dry camping without any city water hooked up.

Also you have a electric element that is turned on outside at the lower left corner after your remove the panel.
This should be only used when you have sufficient water supply in the tank or have city water hooked up. If hot water heater is not full you may burn out the electric element.
I have attached the manual if you don't have it.

Hope this helps you understand its operations.

Howdy and welcome aboard Melvinson404. If your RV has the Suburban brand water heater (and not a demand system), then this FAQ may really help in your understanding of it's operation, as well as the reset/fault light. The dual heating source Suburban brand water heater is often one of the more ill-explained things by dealer to their customers...hence our detailed FAQ on it's operation.

This link below may help you if that's the water heater you have.

Good luck

Simple terms, if little red light stays on, you need to "reset" water heater. Turn switch off and back on.
