50Amp circuit connect to 15Amp house hold.
Brought my new MH home yesterday, under the Texas heat above 100 degrees, my MH interior was extremely baked.
I do not have the 50Amp circuit for the RV at the house yet and was wondering if I could connect my 50Amp RV to the 15Amp house circuit using the adaptors so I could have the power to charge up my batteries so I could use the 2 fantastic fans to suck the heat our of the RV.
Would this feasible? Have anyone done the similar thing?

Absolutely! Might even be able to run 1 AC if not running anything else.

Many thanks to Fonzie and Krazymace for your quick response. I will order the 10 gauge extension cord and the adaptors from 15Amp to 30Amp then to 50Amp to connect this system.

Be careful about running the air conditioner though if you decide to do it. As Krazymace said, NOTHING else should be running, including the fridge and anything plugged into the outlets. I did that, and the fridge starting acting flaky. It has since returned to normal, but I won't be doing that again.

I am doing basically that with our motor home. The difference is we have a 30Amp service. I bought a 30Amp to 15Amp adapter, a short twist lock cable to a male 15Amp three prong plug, and plug it in to a heavy duty extension cord to power our rig in the storage lot. I can run the fans, lights and fridge or our one 15,000 BTU A/C unit. Make sure you get a heavy duty extension cord or the power loss / drop may cause you problems.

Try to find an house outlet that is not GFCI protected. GFCI's do not play nice if there are two of them in series .

Thank for all of your input. My main objective is to have the power to charge up the batteries so it could run the 2 fantastic fans which I am assuming they are both 12volts to suck the heat out of the cabin. Also, I have the small may be 10 cf lp/electric refrigerator that I may want to keep it working so that it will not smell if not use for a while. As far as the air conditioning, I don't think that I would need that since it will suck power like crazy to cool down the coach which may end up burning a hole in my pocket.

Make sure your hot water heater is also off. Turn off the breaker....

we did just that to keep the residential refrigerator running while the trailer was unattended for a week. 50 to 30 amp adapter then 30 amp to 15 amp household power. worked fine!

If "awhile" is more than a couple of days, I'd shut it off, dry it out, and open it up. Why waste energy?

I do the same albeit with a 30amp. I have about a 75' run to my nearest non-GFCI outlet. Got a HD 10amp ext cord, and run our 15,000 Ac with not problem. Pulls between 116-117 volts when the compressor kicks on. I may turn on one LED light for a little bit to find something at night, but usually just run the Ac.

There is a 50 to 15 amp you can order - I'd use that rather than 2 dogbones together (we've got a 50 to 30 and a 50 to 15)

We keep ours plugged in during the camping season when not in use - then keeps the fridge cold (we have the residential fridge) and the batteries charged.

I would not recommend running the air conditioner under any circumstances from a 15 amp outlet. Your compressor will overheat and you won't have any AC when you do go camping. I have gotten away with it a few times myself but the last time I tried it I was repairing my AC unit. Luckily a solder connection melted on the overheat switch before anything was destroyed.

Thank Steve for your advice. I don't have any intention to run the AC. Only need to run the fantastic fan to draw out the heat and maybe run the lp/electric refrigerator to keep it in good shape.

Yes you can! I keep my rig at home and plugged up to house current all the time. We have a residential refrig and I don't want to remove food and freezer contents. Often run one a/c unit at times. Also run a small space heater in the dead of winter to avoid winterizing. We often travel in the winter months as well. Enjoy!
