AC Heat Pump , 5 seconds on 1 minute off

My 2018 George town has a 15000 BTU AC with heat pump.

When I turn it on, it comes on for exactly 5 seconds, shuts off for a minute and repeats for, ever. Totally useless.
It does not matter if I have the fan set to low, medium, high or Auto.
Does any one know any thing about this?

I have searched high & low and have found plenty of problems similar to mine with the Atwood heat Pump; how ever , I have never heard that it got fixed. One poster said Atwood sent a new circuit board, then he disappeared and never said if it fixed it.

So I would like to ask 1 question of Forest River , Atwood 15000 BTU AC owners. Does any one have the heat pump that works just great and keeps running for more than a few seconds?

Thank you

My understanding is it runs to "sample" air temp, if heat is needed mine continues to run blowing heat. The sensor for heat resides in the AC unit so it needs to sample inside air. When it becomes too cold for the heat pump to work it automatically pulls the furnace in. The sampling is annoying at first but like living next to a train....you stop hearing it eventually.

I have left mine on for the entire camping season last year and worked perfectly switching from heat to cool as necessary and pulling furnace on when outside temp was below 45F

Thanks bobotty, that encouraging. I'll try turning the thermostat up.
