AC leaking

Currently camping in the NC mts & noticed in the afternoon the front AC drips water inside. When I look up inside I see ice...

Any ideas on what would arise it to freeze? I have both set at 75 dog which isn’t too bad for temp.

Usually when a/c freeze up could be low on Freon or bad airflow such as dirty filter. Turn off and let thaw. Check dirty filter if equipped. Check outside coils for heavy dirt build up. If cleaned up may have to have looked at.

Low on Freon maybe, Does it cool? Does the compressor stay on or cycle?

I’ve never cleaned the coils so that’s a possibility as it sits in a dirt lot diluting storage. Is there a specific way to clear or just spray it off with water hose?

Not sure of the unit but if you can spray it with water from the inside of the coils out is best. Maybe by taking the cover off. If not, spraying off some how at least. Be careful, they are fragile and will bend easy.

Could be the freeze sensor, if so equipped.

To clean coils... Get some aerosol coil cleaner. Put tarp inside too catch any drips. Remove cover. Spray coils, let sit. Suck out cleaner and forth with a dry vac. Using a hose will dump bunches inside the coach. Momma won't be happy. Spray and repeat as necessary. Also carefully straighten any bent coils with a coil comb or pen knife. Reinstall cover. Go clean up inside.

Great info for the future. I’ve worked on plenty of a/c’s but never on top of a camper. Thanks.
