access engine compartment on GT 270S
Having problem accessing oil dip stick and adding oil to a 2016 Georgetown 270S, does the hood have to be taken off to access the area?

Shouldn't, I have a 2011 GT300, my hood has 2 lockable knobs to open the hood to access the oil fill and dipstick among other things. Wish I had taken pics of it when I opened my hood for the first time this morning [emoji16]

No. Unlock the round locks on the hood, one on either side. You should have a key that has a wide handle for that. Open the hood by pulling out on the top a bit then lifting from the bottom. Springs on the hood should keep it up. Although it does not leave you much of an opening it is enough to put your head, shoulders and/or arms up into the engine compartment. Oil dipstick is going to be about eye level on your right and oil fill to the left. I changed oil on mine this week and you don't have to be a contortionist but it would help. Don't bang your head too many times and have an absorbent cloth handy to catch inevitable oil spills from trying to add oil, even with a funnel.

Here's what I've bought to hopefully avoid those inevitable oil spills: the hose with the yellow adapter connects to both mob1 5 quart bottles and qt bottles as well. Has on/off so i have it off until I put the hose into the oil fill them open it and empty the 5qts, put the qt adapter on and tepeat the process for tje 2qts of oil. That silver gizmo will replace the oil pan plug and connecting the clear 4' hose to it to drain the second and subsequent oil change directly into the black pan. I think ill get a long neck funnel for the first oil change I'm going to do before my trip to the grand canyon in Sept. Hopefully no oil spills [emoji16]

Schv: Yeah, I got a Fumoto valve and tubing to make it easier/cleaner to drain the pan. First time was a little dirty tho with the drain hole right above crossbars, etc. I like the hose with the yellow adapter and will keep my eye open for one. Always feels better to do your own change and to save some $s. Thanks

Unfortunately, I discovered the flotool will NOT work with the mobile 1 5qt jug Or the 1 qt bottles! Seems the guy i talked to at advance, did not check the thing with a mobile 1 jug and qt bottle like I had asked him to!! Even though he said he had!! I've got to call around tomorrow to see if i can find something similar to fill from them. [emoji17]

Today, I found a multi-purpose pump/ siphon at harbor freight for just over $6. Will try to siphon the pan as much as I can thru the dipstick tube and have minimal left to drain to the drain pan, replace the filter and install the valve and then pump as much of the 7 qts of oil into the oil fill and pour the rest. If the hand pump doesn't work very well, I'll find an inexpensive 12v pump for the next change. I'll just have to see [emoji16] I also picked up a pair of Rhino Ramps Max that are rated high enough 16000lb gvw to get my MH off the ground far enough to do under chassis work.

Thanks but watch that getting under the RV stuff. Plenty of room under it for an old 73 yr old like me to slide under.
