Adding drop down bunk

We are picking up our new to us 2012 351ds on Monday and already I am planning mods. I was curious if anyone has done or knows if it could be done (add the drop down bunk over the driver/pass seats) I know I some brands the bunk is on an electric track but from the couple of picks I have seen I'm not sure that is the case with the Georgetown. If the dealer has a newer one onsite on Monday I will take a look at the mounting points but if anyone has any input let it fly my way. Looking forward to our first trip in our first Class A in July!!!!!!!

OK well no seems to have done this so maybe someone can help me in another way. Could anyone with the drop down bunk snap and send me some pictures. If I could see where it mounts and how it drops down I could probably tell if it will fit in my unit. Thanks in advance!!

you have to call forest river and see if your coach has the proper structural components in the roof to support the bunk....

what i have been told is that for awhile the roof system was different if the coach had that option....now all are built the same and it can be added...not sure when the changeover was...

My dealer told me that, although it's an option on our 2014 328TS, they really don't build any without, and I imagine the 351 would be the same. I'm planning on going by the storage area this week, and I'll take some pics for you...

I remember reading here somewhere here that FR said the sub-structure wasn't installed for the upper bunk, but that they changed and all 2014's and up have it.

Thanks for all the help people. Again any pics of the bunk up and down and the attachment points to the ceiling would be much appreciated. I emailed FR and they responded very quickly with the availability and the pricing for the drop down bunk. I am still waiting to hear back from the technical dept. on whether or not my coach has the proper structure for support. Look forward to any pics you guys can get me and I'll keep you posted on the FR info!!

Awesome GA those will help. From what I can tell the hardware bolts up to the ceiling and to the cabinet framing on the side walls Does that sound correct? Next time you are in there could you tell me is the drop down bunk any larger then the side bunks? I did get confirmation today from FR that the proper structure is in place on my 2012 and all the hardware comes with the bunk kit. I have to say FR has really been great in responding back and getting me in touch with the right people.

Yes the frame is screwed to ceiling and cabinet face. There is a wood brace screwed to ceiling behind the cabinet face that it is held up with. The mattress is 32"x82". Same width and 10" longer. With bed let down flat there is some space in front and back of mattress. About 2.5" total. They could have put a 34" wide mattress in there. Are you getting the ladder and mounts for it to go in basement storage?

Thanks GA the DW is super excited especially since she now knows the bed is a bit bigger than the bunks. Funny you mentioned the ladder I never thought about it. I will e mail them and see if it comes with the kit.

Well our 5yr old just climbs the chair beside the door to get in and out. So you may not need it. Ours has a sticker says 200lb limit if you didn't already know.
