Adding Fantastic fan
2012 351ds I would like to add a fantastic fan to the vent in the kitchen area. Has anyone done this or know if there is electric buried up in that area to power the fan?

There should be. Pull the inner shroud off of the existing vent. There should be some 12V wires secured in there. Not sure if they still do, but Forester / Sunseeker used to prewire all vents openings with 12v.

Did a double take and realized this was a Georgetown. Different plant. But, maybe they do it too. For your sake, I hope there are some wires in there. If not, I would try to feed off of the nearest 12v source, usually a light. Hoping a GT owner will chime in shortly to verify. Guess I should read closer.

I added a power fan in the kitchen area of our 2010 Georgetown. Pulled down the plastic ceiling shroud and found a brown (+) and white (-) wire looped in the ceiling from the factory. It's on the same fuse as the power for the bathroom vent. Carry on.

Ok. Now I don't feel bad. Thought I might have mislead.

I'm just an old soldier and know nothing about electrical things, so now you know of my limited knowledge. I'm going to buy a new fan for the kitchen, DW is too short to reach the controls for the current fan, i want to know is this simple, just take out the old one and wire in the new one?

then yes as long as your using the same brand of replacement fan.
you can always call the manufacturer and make sure they'll swap.

Typically, yes. But the controls for the fan being discussed are still at the fan. You won't gain a thing referencing reaching the controls.
