Adding remote backup camera display

Bought a 7" monitor as others here have done on these forums (Brand new 7 inch TFT LCD Digital Car Rear View Monitor With Remote and Stand by sunvalleytek http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004Y3FE6O/..._Q3AZtb0JKQXQA). Installed it in my '14 351DS and happy overall with install but it only shows rear camera and not the side ones. I used the video out port on the video hub (see pic) to feed new monitor but with turn signals or reverse it stays on backup camera only. Any one that has done this mod found a way to have the added monitor mimic the main display?

Did find image for rear camera was mirrored and changed that easily via switches on monitor hub.

Thanks.

I would like to do this also - where is the video port located & what video cable did you use to run to it? Thanks

I used the video out port of the factory camera system hub (you can see the yellow cable in my hub picture) -the new monitor and the hub were set up for typical 3 cable video/audio patch cords (like used before HDMI came along).

Looks good. How did you decide to mount the stand to your MH dash?

I used the included 2 sided custom cut base tape. Time will tell how it well it stays in place. I am not one to screw into dash.

FL Family,

When I hooked mine up I simply disconnected the yellow camera wire from the rear of the head unit (Stereo) and connected it to the Monitor. that allowed me to see the side cameras when the appropriate blinker was selected.

did you try that method?

I did not see a yellow plug from camera multiplexer to the stereo. Will check again.

How do you gain access to the unit? Do you have to remove the shroud around the radio/nav or can you reach in from under the dashboard?

This is for my 2014 GT 351DS factory 3 camera system. Access to most components is by removing black insert on center of dash (that holds radio, climate control, main camera display etc). I did get a response from supplier Rear View Safety "This would not be possible to do with our system.". I only have the hard wire from multiplexer into the main display and nothing going to stereo unit. I am beginning to see I may just have the constant rear camera view on my added monitor.

FL Family,

How does the multiplexer connect to the factory monitor?

That connection should be the one used for the new display you installed.

Multiplexer end is a 13 pin connection but monitor end is hard wired.

OK,

Not sure if it is cost prohibitive, but sounds like you need one of the RSV Switchers (RVS-227-3) that would replace the multiplex device.

Thanks. That multiplexer is sim to factory installed one just gives you 2 video outs (vs 1). There was a post about a month ago where someone installed the same monitor but it seems like it was moved or deleted now. It had a picture of the dash area including the monitor with some traffic in the background.

That was probably mine.

But, Since my rig is an 352 the stock monitor is on the Double DIN radio and the multiplexer has RCA outputs instead of the 9 pin DIN plug you have in the 351.
