I zoomed in to look at the tire closer. There is a groove cut into the sidewall and it looks like some of the sidewall has worn away in pieces. I have to wonder if the tire is severely rubbing on the fender/wheel well?

Noticed any vibrations or other issues while driving? Could be a bent or out of round rim. Maybe you picked up a stick or piece of road debris that got stuck in the wheel well but has since fallen out?

I would take it in to have your alignment checked and have them inspect everything from underneath the coach.

That is a lot of wear on the tire. If that tire was severely under inflated you should see something similar on the other side of the tire. If there isn’t any wear on the other side of the tire then I would be looking again for rubbing underneath with lots of light. With old eyes & trifocals I miss things without extra light.
Hope you find the issue.

Something was rubbing on it! Is there a muf flap on that side? If not is there one on the other side? Maybe something got wedged up there while on the road and then it fell out. It’s definitely not an alignment issue. Or under inflation.

After all of the comments about something rubbing I went and took a goo look and nothing is even close to the tire. Plenty of clearance and no indication of rubbing.

Looks like everyone missed post 14. It's from the tire spinning in gravel. Only the transporter knows what happened in that first 900 miles. Could have even happened before the coach was built. Have you ever been to a motorhome manufacturer and see the workers drive the chassis from the storage lots?

Yes I did and completely forgot to check that when I was at the storage lot. I will certainly do that tomorrow.

There right something was dragging on the edge of tire or under inflation wich would wear both outside edges of tire. Was there a mudflap back there ? My mudflap bracket was bent forward and totally shredded my mudflap on first 200 mile trip .

Did you ever figure out what caused the scrapes on your tire trees? Mudflap maybe ?

I have seen this type of tire wear before. The cause is constant spinning on snow/ice packed roads. This tire has had a severe "heat cycle". If you look at the micro sipes in the tread you can see how the heat has cracked them open. I would suspect that in the future this tire will begin to start chunking and throwing tread off. It needs to be replaced.

Tire Issue
Had tire replaced yesterday. Fortunately covered my warranty. The tire shop was at a loss as to what would have caused the problem. Mentioned something about how they shave the tire during production. I think it was just a defective tire. Hopefully all good now. Thank you for all of the feedback.
