Artic pack
Hi,I have a 2011 Georgetown 300 motorhome.Can anyone tell me how the artic pac works?

More insulation, bigger heater, double pane windows. Heated tanks. Maybe more yet

In regards to the tank heaters. They are thermostatically controlled once turned on. They are mounted on each tank and any elbow of the drain system where liquids fill the pipe. At around 40 degrees they come on and will keep the liquids from getting cold enough to freeze. Once above that temperature they cycle off. They are 12 volts so if you're not connected to shore power they are a drain on the coach batteries.
And as stated above the other components come into play as well.

Artic Pac
Thanks,I found our book on the artic pac.We are in south Texas and have our motorhome in storage.We had freezing temps last night so we drained the tanks which was good because we lost electric.But now we know how the artic pak works.Have you actually had to use yours?

Yes, we went camping in Western MD the second week of November 2010 and Temps were in the low 20's at night. I've used it a couple times as a precaution at the end of the season before winterizing.

According to the documentation I got with our '02, the heaters come on at 44F but don't go off again until 64F. There are three sizes of pads, all 6.5" wide. The 18" long one draws 5.5 Amps, the 24" one draws 6.3A and the 36" one draws 9.0A, all at 12 volts DC.

You're right about the temperatures on & off. I knew it was close to 40 but wasn't sure. Memory isn't what it used to be!

I was just wandering is there a way to regulate the on and off time of the heating pads. Say turn on at 28 degrees off at say 35 degrees. My thinking if its 32 out side then its 37 inside the tanks. Also I am wondering about the extra insulation in coach. Any information about this would be healthful. I mean a question should be answered by the designers or technical people and not sales staff.

my switch has a lens on it but doesnt light

I think heating the tanks to 64F is a bit over the top, particularly for the black tank. The heating pads have the thermostat built in, I believe.

When you turn the Tank heaters on the switch should light up whether the heaters are operating off the in-line t-stat or not. The light is an indicator that power is on to the pads. Most likely the bulb is burned out. Mine lasted about 2 months. FR sent a replacement and it's been ok since. Be sure you replace it with the 12 volt switch and not the 120 volt switch. They look alike and both will operate the pads but the bulb will not light on the 120 volt switch. If you look very closely at the side of the switch it will read bulb 14 vdc or 120 volt. I replced mine with an amber colored switch so if I look across the room I know if the heating pads are on r the water pump is turned on.
