auto start generator switch

there was a thread but it was old.. so we have this new unit and although we have a residential frig it seems we don't or can't find a switch to start the generator. we are a bit perturbed because we are new class a owners and though we did lots of research this is all new to us? --- should we have it added?

What Georgetown model do you have. Ours is a 2013 Georgetown XL 378TS and it is on the center console

hi it's in my sig. 328 2014. also is there a trick to getting the generator cover offf thanks

Not sure about your particular model, but ours has a remote switch in the center console stamped "Gen". There are two functions to the switch, one is a primer and the other is the starter. You push the switch in the bottom direction for about 5 seconds to prime it, then hold the top of the switch down until the light comes on. After a short period of time you'll have power. There is also a switch on the generator itself. The cover snaps in. Give it a shot, if you can't figure it out, I'll go out and play with mine to give you specific directions.

On my switch I would push up on the generator switch, the one with a lighting bolt on it, for about 5 seconds. It would then start. To turn it off I push on the bottom of the switch.. The switch also has a light in it that glows when the generator starts and stays on. There is also a switch on the generator itself. Same procedure. To take the cover off grab the top of the cover and gently pull. It is held on by two rubber grommets.
I am attaching photos. I know my setup is not like yours but maybe you can find a switch that looks like mine.

Yes pull the top out a few inches so it releases the rubber boots and them pull up the whole cover.
Too bad the dealer didn't show you.

Thanks for the info re: the cover. We were shown that but forgot. In fact I videotaped the first hour and then ran out of memory on my camera just in time for that part.

Just a note: I believe you should hold the lower half of the gen set rocker switch down till the light illuminates and then press the top half of the gen set rocker switch to start. Press the lower half to stop gen.

On ours, as told per tech, you hold the bottom down for five seconds to prime it...no lights come one, then you hold the top until the light come on.

To address Joanne's OP, I believe I started the original old thread. I am new to Class A's as well. My 2013 351 did not come with an auto start generator switch. Its something that can be installed after the fact fairly easily, is my understanding.
