Auto steps

We have a 2013 Gerogetown XL378. We would like to stop our steps from opening out. We have a bigger deck to use while staying for 4 months. I bet it's pretty simple

I can think of 2 ways to stop the steps.

1. Find the appropriate fuse and pull it. Assuming the steps are fused, that is probably the best way.

2. Tape a magnet over the magnetic switch in the door frame to "fool" the steps into thinking the screen is closed.

Manufacturers have a failsafe mechanism that opens the steps every time the door is opened to prevent unsuspecting people from stepping out into space and then suing the manufacturer for an unsafe product. You will have to find a way to circumvent that safety protocol.

Unplug the motor under the steps, easy, then just plug it back in when your ready to use, no need to locate fuse and try to remember where it's at when your ready for steps to work...

I use the magnet and keep it in the compartment above the door when I don't want the steps to roll out.....that has to be easier than going underneath and unplugging connections or pulling fuses.....just a little tape and walaaa!

Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know what works best. A switch sounds easy for future uses. But magnet easy now
