Automatic head and running lights
So we are on our second motorhome and neither one has had automatic headlights like all cars and trucks.. Does this not seem stupid or is there a reason for this?? I am sure it only takes a different headlight switch and a sensor..

The Ford Bare chassis is what it is.
Why do you think it seems stupid not to have automatic headlights.
This chassis is used by multiple motorhome companies and I don't think any that I have seen has automatic light control.
Sounds like a great idea for a mod being you say its that easy.
Let us know how it turns out.

My 250 does not have DRL but the head and parking lights will turn off after awhile if the key is off.
I like it that way....

Well doing more research Amazon sells a system.. http://www.amazon.com/Directed-Elect.../dp/B000CJ24YY
But it would be nice if Ford just included it with the chassis

I would think that a MH that's destined for sale in Canada has to have daytime running lights (DRL). All cars and trucks sold up here have DRL. You'd think it could offered as an option for US models.

On most current model vehicles, it's usually just a program fix.
Depending on the year, most can be simply " turned on"

The Georgetown's do have DRL's. But not automatic headlights/Running Lights. You have to turn them on at the switch. BUT, if you are driving, it is a matter of inches to the switch.

So have you never got out to fill up and realize you left your lights on.. It is a habit to just get up and leave the cockpit since all other vehicles have them now a days.. Plus a lot of folks dont turn them on soon enough.. Seems to be a safety item that is overlooked

Because nobody does it.
I love drl. I have mine on full, day and night.
I hate driving south, and seeing everyone with their lights off.
Dark, raining, snowing...
No fricken lights!!!
Just turn them on!

I think perhaps you all are missing the point.
While turning the lights on and off is not hard that wasn't the point of the discussion.
Sounds to me that RVNut is saying is that having automatic lights, ones that come on with the windshield wipers, ones that turn off with a delay after you turn off the motor, ones that come on and turn off with the motor, is a desirable feature just like it is in cars. Why don't motorhome chassis manufacturers add this option to their chassis? It wouldn't cost that much to include it.

I have a 2012 Sunseeker on Ford chassis and I had to bring it to Ford dealer to have DRL turned on.They were turned on by hooking laptop to OBD terminal under dash.

Yup.
There's also aftermarket drl modules that can be installed.
Hooks up to headlights, and is turned on with a signal from your oil pressure switch.

It doesn't interrupt the circuit.
If the module fails, the lights still work but simply pulling the magic switch on the dash.
