Awning

We have a 2014 360 XL. The awning is pieced together about 8-12 inches away from top thus making a seam. Everytime is rains, water leaks thru the seam. I cannot believe that my awning is the only one in the world seamed together. So, we bought some awning tape thinking we could apply it and waterproof the awning. Anybody done this? How is a person supposed to hold the material to apply the tape when it’s 12 ft up?

It is leaking from the holes for the stiching. go to Walmart or Academy sport and buy a bottle of seam sealer (used for tents) and spread a thin coat of it on the seam from the top

I have a 2017 369xl and mine does the exact same thing. Leaks where the 2 pieces are stitched together 8/10” down from roof.

If your awning is like mine it extends straight out from unit with no pitch. Thus water collects on top and if not enough to auto dump it just sits there and drips through stitching. So now what I do is when we set up I simply drop front of awning manually down several inches so water doesn’t collect.

If you have the Solera awnings, you can just grab the awning arm and pull it down to angle it on one or both ends. There's a sticker on ours to that effect. When it retracts it just straightens itself up.

My 07 Cherokee TT would leak from the awning/gutter seam right in the middle of the trailer. It would drip through the seam and just be a general PITA. Once a year I would spread a little Dicor in the bottom of the gutter to seal it up.
I can’t picture what you are talking about though! What do you mean the awning is pieced together?

The manufacturer used two pieces of awning material for some reason. The first piece is about one foot from the RV out. The second piece ( width ) is sewn on and goes all the way out to the length of the awning. I’ll take a picture tomorrow and post it.

Enlarge the picture and you’ll see stitching. In person I can see sky thru the holes.

Paint the seam stitching with HH-66 vinyl cement. Dries clear and works perfectly up to two years.
