Awning doesn't align correctly

Hi All,

I've been having this issue for the last few weeks and can't figure out the trick to get it to work again.

Every time I retract the awning one or both sides/poles don't fit into the columns that are anchored to the motorhome. I have to pull it back out move it left or right and it takes me 2 or 3 tries to get so it will lock securely.

Is there an adjustment I could make to make it work like before?

Thanks
E

I would first look where the awning material slides into the groove on your roof. Normally a set screw will hold it in place and stop it from sliding right or left in the groove. The screw may have come out and the material has slid front or back from center which may cause your issues.
Take a look for the screw on either side of the grooved metal on your roof.
See picture of the screw i'm talking about

Good luck

Thanks Iggy. I did notice the material off center. So do I just slide it back in place and put the screw back in?

Extend the awning, measure from the metal cap on each end of the tube to the awning material. It should be exactly the same on both ends. Once you get it centered and roll it in and out to verify it stows properly, extend it one more time and pop rivet through the hem into the tube as shown in the attached photo.

You need to center awning fabric on the roller then pop rivit fabric to roller so it doesn't move.
Deploy awning then pull fabric one way or the other to get it to roll up straight and arms align.
