How much fantom draw is there when the battery switch is off. I thought that there should be no draw on the coach batteries when the switch is off. When I went to check the coach in storage after about four weeks I had start the engine before the steps would extend. I asked the dealer regarding this and they told me I should disconnect the batteries. I thought that is what the switch was for.

There are several draws on the battery even when the switch is off (storage). A CO detector among others, I believe.

Either disconnect battery or use a battery minder/ tender.

The other item that draws power is the leveller computer. I had same problem and installed a disconnect switch right on the batts as well.

My dealer put a blade switch right on the battery post. $25 for the switch and $25 for the 15 minutes of labor as I had it in the shop for other warranty work. It's important to keep the batteries charged in the winter or the water in the battery will freeze and you'll have nothing. Just don't forget to reconnect the blade switch if you start up the coach every few weeks to charge the batteries or they won't charge.

polkatronron: I do not have a power hookup at the storage lot. If i did the battery minder/ tender would be the way to go.
Trempert: We will be leaving for south TX on January 3 so freezing should not be a problem. I don't like to pull the cover off the step to disconnect the battery every time we store it for a few weeks.

they have some smaller solar units
that should keep your battery topped off for you

but

you may still have to
pull the cover off the step to connect the solar wires ??

In our 387 I have checked the draw on my batteries when the main power switch is turned off and there is zero. The selonid to the switch is from the chassis battery I assume (haven't check that) not the house batteries. When the switch is off nothing happens but the steps will come down on the chassis battery

I just know enough about electricity to be dangerous so will just have to pull the negative wire from the coach batteries until I sort this all out. I'm sure that it also over the head of the service department at me dealer.

if I was only going to pull one terminal
and I do often
I pull off the positive

gess it don't matter ?????

Nope, it doesn't matter which side of the battery is disconnected. Anything 12 volt needs a complete circuit from the battery and back to the battery. I installed a battery switch I got at a marine store on the Negative side. I selected the Negative side cause it was the easiest to get to.
