Buying a New Georgetown 327

I have a 2007 Forest River Lexington GTS 255 and it is time for a larger rig. The Georgetown 327 seems to be the right layout for us. I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, and recommendations for this model. Are the transfer switch, heat strips, all linoleum, home theater, or dual pane window options worth adding? Any comments on inside and outside storage? Any problems if I install a bedroom TV myself? Thanks.

I have the auto transfer switch on my 2008. I wouldn't be without it.

What I am missing from your list is the dual pane windows. I dearly wish I had those here in the Florida heat. Maybe the a/c would handle the load better.

I had the windows on our coach tinted this summer, and I HIGHLY recommend that process for keeping the coach cooler!

to the forums. All of the options you asked about are well worth having. We have the auto transfer switch and it's a very nice feature that some add afterwards. We have the heat strips for the AC units. They do a good job of heat down to about 40 degrees. We use ours instead of propane when we're out during the day. It's free heat at the campsite and we can turn on the furnace once we get back. All linoleum, wish we had that. I'd rather have scatter rugs that can be replaced than the carpet. It's tough to keep clean and it's not the best looking stuff to start with. Dual Pane Windows, well worth it for both retaining heat inside and keeping the cold out and the reverse for summer time. We have the home theater and it's nice for watching movies but it's not a absolute necessity for us. As for installing a TV yourself, sure why not? just be sure there's a solid support to attach it to.

We had the auto transfer switch on our B+ and don't on the new G'town and I do miss it but don't know that I miss it enough for the added expense of installing one.

I could appreciate an all linoleum floor and if the carpet wears out before we do, I'll consider replacing it with linoleum. It's much easier to sweep and mop than drag out the vac and scrub the spots.

we use the heat strips all the time, now if gtown would have a tstat that allows both heatstrips and furnace to work to- gether i would pay for that as wellbrianj

Cfsoistman again said it all. The heat strips, auto switchover, dual pane windows are good choices. We also added a larger A/c in front (15000) and a washer/dryer, and a ice maker in the ref. These are all add on's.

We had the heat strips and an electric fireplace on a fifthwheel, and found that the fireplace worked much better. Our 378TS has the fireplace so we didn't add the heat strips. Auto transferswitch is a must, as far as I'm concerned. Our 378 didn't have one and I installed one with a built in surge protector for $240. We have the dual pane windows and think the are a must, also. We like having the carpet and the linoleum. I took out the original bedroom TV which was 19 in. and replaced it with a 26 in. and friend of mine ordered his without the bedroom TV and put a 32 in. in his. I think the coax was back there anyway. Of course, it was in mine since I had the TV so it was relatively easy to install the new one. You just need a wall mount sized for the TV you want to put in there. I put one in that would tilt to have a better angle to view from the bed. We like having the surround sound, too and hook the TV sound into it also.

After all the complaining I see on this forum, it is refreshing to see someone going back to FR for a new coach.

We bought our 2005 359ts used and have the transfer switch, dual pane windows and artic pack. I wouldn't want to give up any of those and wish I had heat strips.

We have lino in our new GTWN 360 and love it...No more carpet thank god. Washer dryer also keeps the co-pilot in a better mood. We do not have the trasfter switch and it is not an issue. The heat strips are useless in my mind. I have tried them and won't probably use them much.

Window awnings help with the heat also. Also great for when it rains and you want to open the windows
