Non residential frigs and water heater on propane are also a risk. The risk may be very small but if it happens the result is very bad. Once while fueling a guy filling his car was smoking! It was a calm day and the smell of fuel was strong. I politely said something and his response was to take a deep puff. I stopped pumping and walked away until he left.

I am of two minds about this...
My generator is at the front of the coach, my fuel fill is about 18' away. Cars are coming and going from the pumps. My fridge is mounted pretty high, if it is on gas the flame is 5' in the air. I would say the odds are extremely low that I am going to spark a fire.
However I do plan my stops and turn the fridge and generator off prior to refueling.
