Change a light bulb

Haha, how many people does to take to change an LED bulb in my Georgetown? Well hopefully not many, but I don’t know how so I’m leaning on my FR Forum peeps.

I went to change one of my overhead LED’s and see that it’s not a typical bulb, even for an LED...it’s a tape light that is soldered in. I’m sure this is somehow an easy fix, but I’ve never seen a bulb assembly like this and don’t know what to do here.

Any guidance out there?

Are you and good at soldering? If so, de-solder the old bulb and solder in the new one.

On a side note, it kind of looks like that one is soldered backwards. It looks like black is going to the + side. Has that bulb ever worked?

timfromma, I could be wrong but isn't the positive wire on 12vdc either black or white with black stripe positive? If so, then it is wired correctly. I know some 12vdc systems have a red and white or black and red wires. Connecting a multimeter set to measure dc voltage will tell you which is positive and which is negative.
