Chrome cast video through Clarion radio?

On our 378TS, we have a clarion nz or nx radio. It has a USB input port. The DVD plays through the big screen in the living room fine. Does that mean I can use a chrome cast plug or my iPad to play video to the big screen also? When the ipad is plugged in, it is not recognized, when the android tablet is inserted it asks to input device name with no keyboard. Should it not play using the USB video mode? When anything is plugged in, this option is non operational.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Are you planning on connecting the Chromecast to the TV or the Radio?

The Chromecast will work if you connect it to the extra HDMI port on the tv in the Living room. Since Chromcast is a HDMI device, there is no way to connect it directly to the radio.

One concern is that Chromecast requires a Wi-Fi connection shared by the Chromecast device and the device sharing the stream (IPAD, ANDROID, etc.) So I am not sure it would work if you didn't have a consistent source for Wi-Fi such as a personal hot spot.

Thanks. Yes I have really good Wi-Fi capabilities here in the park and also backup on a hotspot. The TV is mounted in such a way that I am unable to get acres to any of the manual controls or the HDMI port in the back of the unit, so I was hoping that I could stream to the TV from my iPad through the USB input on the radio to the TV.

Hmmmmm. Don't really want to unscrew the TV from the cabinet just to get access to the HDMI for Chromecast.

Understand that, but you would only have to do it once, because once it is installed, you can leave it there for future use.

I take it your TV doesn't just lift off the mount like the living room TV in my 352.

No it has a top and bottom bracket with five screws on each. I could remove it once and use an HDMI extension. That way I could also connect my laptop and use the TV as a monitor!

Did a quick search, and according to Clarion, a special cable is required to view external video through the Aux port (usb). This is for the NX604 model.
