Yes you are dating yourself, I remember get the gas pumped, check the oil, clean the windows and green stamps. All for 32c a gallon. LOL

Smile Cleaning windshield

I purchased a NORWEX microfiber cleaning cloth on EBAY a couple of months ago. Used it on two trips ,one to no. carolina then to Goshen and back. It works perfect to remove bugs from windshield as well as the front of the motorhome with just a damp cloth, no cleaners required. Safe on paint and glass. Highly recommend it.

Squeegee at the service station, or at home, and no problem removing bugs. Some might take a few extra rubs.

Besides, Murphy's law states the minute you get back on the road, the biggest, nastiest bug will commit suicide on the windshield, right in the middle of the driver's view.

I've done the 0000 steel wool treatment several times on my TV followed up with a couple light coats of RainX and it works great...!!!
