Cooktop fix?

Our cooktop has a black grate that has four rubber grommets that hold it in place. Recently I noticed two of the four are gone. Anyone else have this problem?

I have also lost or had these fall apart. While you still have one, drop into an RV parts shop and get some spares. If I recall correctly, there are a few different styles.

Most if not all rv parts places have them. They seem to be a all the time replaceable item. I keep four extra just to have.

Lift up the stove top and you might find them there. That's were mine like to hide.

Anyone think of screwing a nut to the bottom to make it permanent no need for the grommets

After having many of the grommets push through the cooktop, I decided to create my on "fix".

1) 1" OD washer with 3/8 " or 7/16" ID hole (may have to drill out hole a 'bit)
2) 3/4" OD bushing with 3/8" diameter bushing to "push through" washer hole.
3) make sure bushing will fit through washer hole and be long enough to go through the stovetop holes so as not to allow grate to slide around.

You will still have enough "play" in bushing hole to move grate up/down if it needs to be "leveled" somewhat.

It's funny, but Magic Chef doesn't sell them anymore as replacement parts. Camco jumped on the wagon and offers a high temp silicone replacemnt that works on all Magic Chefs made for at least the past ten years.

I just bought two sets of four for about $4 per set.

Fixing igniter might be simple. Mine stopped working, and all I had to do was lift the cooktop and re-insert the wire that had come out.

The igniter on one of my burners was not sparking. Just fixed it tonight. The curved metal tip on the outside of the burner must have bent when cleaning the stove (probably got snagged on a rag). I simply pushed on the curved metal ignitor tip just slightly to make the gap a little less between the tip and the white ceramic recess that holds the tip. Works great now. Will try to remember to take a picture next time I go out to the RV storage lot.

My turn knob broke off! The shaft cracked and does not even turn when forced on I am thinking some epoxy and let it ride

I fixed the striker by drilling a hole for a cotter pin so the shaft would not spin when the knob is turned. Then I tried the washers under the cooktop and it worked for one cooking session and pushed through AGAIN! Not sure what the next step is, I wonder if the washers cause it to sit higher and the cover pushes down on it when its down and we are driving

We went to Home Depot or Lowes and in the nuts and bolts isle found a piece that works perfectly with the stove top. They are some kind of a nut but we can't remember what kind. They look just like the factory ones only have a metal insert.
