Countertop extension

When I purchased my new Georgetown, it came with a countertop extension, which is stored under the dinette bench. It's not an absolute necessity, as I have plenty of counter space, but it is a nice little extra. The problem is, I can't figure out how to put it on. Dealer showed it to me, but didn't demonstrate it at the walk-through. There are two fold-down brackets at the end of the counter, and it looks like it should slide right onto those brackets, but it will only go so far because of a set of tabs that are on the extension brackets that keep it a couple of inches away from the counter. Anyone else have this extension, and is there some way to slide it all the way on past those blasted tabs?

Our counter-top extension stays on the brackets and has a catch mounted lower on the cabinates to keep it from moving when not in the up position. I'm not sure if ours is removable from the brackets though. I'll check and get back to you with my findings.

Mine is intended to be removable; it even has its own strap under the dinette bench for traveling.
