CPAP Battery storage/ 2008 GT motorhome, 315

Hi,

My DH has an AGM battery he uses during dry camping for his CPAP machine. He has been trying to figure out the best place to permanently store it. I suggested in one of the basement compartments, but he says the plastic feels too thin to handle the 60 or so pounds permanently, especially traveling over some very bad highways and interstates. There is not enough room under the bed, as we use that space for extra storage, plus not sure how the added weight would be on the slide over time. For those of you that use a CPAP, and dry camp, where in your Georgetown do you keep the extra battery?

You could always add a piece of 3/4" Plywood to the bottom of one of the compartments to strengthen it and install a couple straps to keep it in place. We have an ice maker and the compressor for the braking system for towing our car in the compartment to the left of the entrance door. I just cut a piece of plywood large enough to cover the bottom, painted it black and then cut 2 strips about 3" wide and drilled holes so the rubber legs of the ice maker set in the holes. It's easy to remove but stays in place as we drive down the road. The compressor is secured to the plywood with a hole down through the bottom to drain off any water.

Bingo! I added an extra Group-27 battery in the storage bay that holds the converter, to adsorb the spike when my inverter is switched on, and for the extra capacity. I put as large a chunk of 3/4" in there as I could, with 3/4" grabbers through the bottom. I mounted the battery box to the plywood.
