Cracking Leather Furniture

I have a 2011 Georgetown Bunkhouse 350. I keep my motorhome garaged when not in use. Its in excellent condition except for the cheap leather. My front caption seats, air mattress couch, and recliner leather is cracking, and want to see what others have done. Not sure how to match the leather or if I have to redo the entire items.

Leather naturally cracks with age. Is it a synthetic? If it's real leather it will NEVER seperate, only crack with use.

Common problem with Williamsburg furniture, seems to be a defect. Some have been able to get FR to pony up for the repair.

Try that before you pay.

It's vinyl furniture not leather. There should be a tag on the furniture somewhere for Williamsburg. Mine was stapled to the underside of the couch. The phone number I have is (574) 773-7711. May still be good. Hope you have good luck with them, I didn't.

When I looked at some used Georgetowns on a dealer's lot I noticed a lot of cracked and deteriorating furnishings. That stuff is not leather, and the salesman told me all the Georgetowns in those years (2010-2013) has similar issues. Your only real recourse is to reupholster with a better quality fabric.

Yup the stuff self destructs in about three years. After the warranty expires. Fabric made in China?

Don't waist your time with Williamsburg. Contact Travis at FR he just sent me replacement covers for my captains chairs. The Euro chair covers are no longer available.

Not quite. Most if not all RV furniture builders, build with whatever material RV designers spec in. So if another furniture supplier is using the same material, they going to have issues as well. Its not specifically Williamsburg.

It really is a crapshoot either way. You should give Travis at FR a call, I spoke to him once on an unrelated matter and he was great, but don't get stuck in a finger pointing war.

I firmly believe that FR is ultimately responsible for the equipment they deliver. If they have a problem with a supplier, they should take it up with them. I do however give them a pass when its an appliance, just because its easier to deal with the manufacturer.

Depending where you live you may have extended consumer protection laws like we have in Quebec.

I had the same problem and found that the newer coaches have better material. FR replaced mine in November.

Forest River. They picked my coach up in Arkansas and took it to the factory to make several repairs.

Dan Evans heads the service department of Georgetown. I made contact with him at the rally in August. I worked with Rick Black and Misty Davis at (574) 206-7601.
