Thanks for the replies. Didn't see any discoloration on the underside of the range cover. Looks ok.

We had HiMacs installed in our home kitchen counters by the company that makes it. The rep said 250 degrees is the highest temp they can handle. Anything over that and it will melt.

I always put a dishcloth on the counter, then a cookie sheet and place the crock pot on the cookie sheet. That way you are covered for any kind of mess that might happen while cooking with a crock pot.
