Crock Pot on solid surface counters 2014 GT 328

Anybody used a crock pot on the solid surface counters? Any problems with heat damage? Making chili this morning. I put the crock pot on the underside of one of the range cover pieces just in case.

I worked for many years for a granite and solid surface fabricator and I can tell you that slow cookers should be no problem on solid surface. The thing you should watch are the toaster ovens and hot pans.

For piece of mind you could always invest in a bakery cooling rack to set it on.

We always use ours without a problem. If in doubt, a cutting board underneath should do it.

That depends on how hot your chili is.

X2 on the hot pans. We have never had a problem with toaster ovens but there are some $20 ones that might be an issue.

I know for a fact that corian warps if it gets hot enough. The thinner it is the more it is prone to warp.

I dont think you are seeing warping...probably melting. I know when we did residential countertops the Solid Surface (Corian) was built on a substrate which would not let it warp. May be different for RV's though. It will also scorch causing it to look hazy. Easily fixed though.

We always use a cutting board under ours. Makes for a handy place to rest the spoon on too.

We used to make cutting boards out of the sink cutouts and give them to people when our installers showed up. We had thousands of them laying around the shop. I bet if you found a local fabricator they'd give ya one cheap.

My countertops in my TT are LG Hausys HiMacs material. Not sure if FR used them for all of their tops though. It's the same material as Corian. If you have an area you can see under your tops it will have the name printed on them. (saw the underside of mine in the outdoor kitchen)

Be leery of condensation. We always open a roof vent.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't see any discoloration on the underside of the range cover. Looks ok.

We had HiMacs installed in our home kitchen counters by the company that makes it. The rep said 250 degrees is the highest temp they can handle. Anything over that and it will melt.

I always put a dishcloth on the counter, then a cookie sheet and place the crock pot on the cookie sheet. That way you are covered for any kind of mess that might happen while cooking with a crock pot.
