Don't know about you all but I needed something more in my MH then Forest River provided. I redesigned a new center console dash removing the back up monitor to a separate mount on left side of dash then removed the black plastic center dash and made one with the correct size holes and moved switches where I thought they should go. I added a new model EONON G2110Z Android radio at top close so I could reach. Unit has GPS,Bluetooth for answering phone hands free and so many more options to make our life easier. Had fun doing it!
Cool like the wood look!
You got pics where you mounted the old screen? I have an old pioneer nav double din radio. Thought about doing something similar. Like the idea!
That looks fantastic! I've been wanting to move things around also, but never thought of using wood - I was trying to find similar plexi-glass material.
I'm guessing that's 1/4" plywood? Did you need to add any reinforcements to the back to help hold the weight of the stereo or monitor?
Lowes carries 1/4 inch oak plywood and has finished sides. what i used for mounting of the radio was plastic J channel. if you have never used it it is by the soffit and facia section it looks like the letter J the small part of the J is rigit and the tall part of the J has holes in it and is about 2 inches long. I used some 3200lb epoxy comes in two tubes that mix when being applied. I used my old plexiglass panel as a template for the switches and went to automotive store and got a kit for putting in radios it had the glove box in it. once I cut switch and hr meter holes then i figured out where and how big to make radio and glove box holes. cut them with a jig saw slowly sanded then stained then got the gloss clear in spray can it covers smoother applied one coat dry for two hrs light sand 220 grit then coat again, I put 5 coats on. Hope this helps.
There is plenty of wire back there I did not have to extend anything only thing is switch off batteries when taking out switches they don't unplug easily just have to get something plastic to help pry plug away from switch then i labeled the plugs with masking tape.
Great job! Handy folks like you make me wish I didn't have 2 left hands, and I'm left handed LOL!
