debugging round ceiling lights

I have an bug that got into one of the round ceiling lights. I pulled the light down, and can't figure out how to get inside of the lens to remove the bug. I do not want to ply or force anything, for fear of breaking it. Down the road I'm sure that I will need to replace a bulb or two.

Thanks, Phil

What model do you have? I'm assuming the lights are fairly standard across the lines. When I picked up my MH, I pulled all the light covers and vacuumed all of them out along with the wiring holes because bits of insulation was filling the lens.

Procedure: Squeeze the sides of the lens with your thumb and pointer finger. The side closest to the switch swings down because the tab is on the outer edge of the light. Reverse osmosis going back in... outer edge first with the tab, swing it down towards the center and squeeze so the little tabs holding it go back into place. Make sense?

Just can't resist.

Pointer finger? Osmosis: "the spontaneous net movement of solvent molecules through a partially permeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration, in the direction that tends to equalize the solute concentrations on the two sides."?

I believe you have to push on glass lens and turn counterclockwise looking at fixture 1/4 turn....

Twist the glass counter clockwise while holding the chrome ring with your other hand so it doesn't twist. It can take quite a bit of force to get the glass insert to come free. About a quarter turn and it will fall right out.

Phil. I have a 2011 378 TS and had 3 bulbs burn out in one week. The only way I could get to twist the glass part was to grasp the edge of the chrome piece and pull it out. Then I could twist the glass to get to the bulb. A real pain but it worked.
