Dometic 1350 fridge

Dometic rm 1350, I have a question for those who have this unit, have you ever heard the fans cut on? I think thats where my problem may be, its 2 years old and they have never came on no matter how hot, thanks

I'm working on issues with mine right now. I had intended a write up when I finish. As for the fans there are two of them and ours do come on when the outside air temperature starts to rise and the fridge is getting warmer. Our fridge just started failing to cool intermittently and I have had it to the Dometic repair facility twice now. What it has come down to is that on our rig (378TS) the vent on the roof is mounted in the wrong location but cannot be fixed as there is a structural aluminum beam in the way of where it should go. There is also a dead air space above the fridge where the hot air can get into that prohibits proper venting. I am working on both issues right now and will post pictures of what Dometic suggested I do for my rig. I am also on my way out right now to buy more fans. The Dometic guy told our repair tech that they have had to put up to 5 fans on these refers to get them to cool right. See pics below of the fans.

More as I get things done.

I have had mine looked at several time and the last guy said the same thing about the roof vent, he said there was a t.s.b to move it and was trying to locate it at forest river, i installed one of the aftermarket ones trying to get it to help. how hard was it to remove the fridge so they can be replaced, just hate talking it anywhere.

Wasn't too bad pulling it out, I used a transmission jack to put it on and wheel it out of the way. It is heavy and you need 2 people to maneuver it. I am installing sheet metal flashing to help with the abrupt transitions to air movement towards the vent as suggested. Which rig do you have again?

I have a 378TS also. I am also having troubles. Will take it back in next Monday. I've been attempting to talk with FR (Mike Burns) but after the first talk, he blew me off. Since it's been three weeks, I sent letter to Peter Liegl, CEO. Be surprised if anything happens with him either. I guess I'm just shafted. My MH is a 2010, but while talking to Dometic about my problem, they said the fridge was manufactured by them in 2006. Must have been sittin' around for awhile; as Mike Burns told me.. He also remarked "it must have come over on a slow boat from China". Lot of truth to that because it was made in China. I REALLY DIDN"T APPRECIATE HIS SARCASTIC responses to my questions. Does anyone know of anyone else at FR that is helpful; or at least will talk with you in a business like manner? Thanks and good luck on getting fixes done. I'll be interested to hear about the fixes also.

I replaced the factory fan (defective). I will post pictures next week, I hope. My fan ran once, it got real noisy then it stopped. I replaced the inline fuse a couple of times but it just kept blowing. When I took the fan out it was seized.

Im thinking im going to order them and wire them so i canturn the on and off with out the thermal switch cutting it on.got a price of 97. each expensive

Don't do that! I got bigger ones that pull 107CFM at WW Grainger for $41 each. They have all sizes you can do WAY better than $97, that's a complete rip off. When I turn on the upper fans now you can feel the breeze being pulled in the ouside vent door. Like I said I will post the complete writeup for those that are having the same problems and keep it updated as to the outcome.

The refrigerator should go through a defrost after it runs for 48 hours for 2 hours and then it should start cooling again. We recommend that it is turned on between 12:00 noon and 4 pm so that the defrost runs in the middle of the night (it cools for 36 hours before the initial defrost will occur). I do not recommend replacing the board for the issue you are describing. Has McGeorge's looked at it for you?

This was Dometics response when i questioned them about the issues

Get your fans each, around $8.00 to $12.00 each. The fans use 12 volts. The fans I used in my fridge are 92mm. Arctic Cooling ARCTIC F9 Pro TC 92mm Temp Controlled Fan

Did you use these inside the fridge or outisde? The page says they cool to 38 degrees by the temperature sensor which would mean they would be running continuously if on the outside.

Thats 38 degrees C or 100 degrees F. The snap switch thermostat (Dometic) is mounted to the top fins in the fridge and it kicks in at about 100 degrees F. I wanted variable speed fans to keep the noise down. I know I said I will upload pictures but I am having some issues with the camera. I hope to post pictures Monday night or Tuesday.

here is a couple of pictures of the fan project. The fans are whisper quiet but one of the fans was defective out of the box, so I just put one in for now.
