Dometic refridgerator

Last weekend we loaded up our 378, turned on the fridge and left it for the night to get cold. Next morning the temp said 34 I opened the door and the fridge and freezer were warm. We continued our trip and had to eat out all weekend. For the last year or so I had to turn it off and on a couple of times when going from shore power to propane but after doing that on the ist day it would start normaly for the rest of the trip.Anyone with any ideas?

Is the frig in auto mode meaning gas or electric?
If you say the readout says 34 degrees and you open the door and it is warm obvious somethigs wrong in Denmark.
How can it say 34 degrees if it isn't?

Was the Propane detector led solid green so it can get propane?
Is the propane valve energized at the tank? (shoudl be warm to the touch)
Have you checked or clleaned the gas orifice that in the back of the frig?
Many time spiders build nests in the tube which restricts the gas flow and it shuts down.

Hope this is a start in finding your solution.

I would say the controller RTD is going bad if it says 34 degrees it will not cool any cooler it thinks it is cold enough..

Thanks for the reply Iggy. The refer was on shore power the whole time and the switch was in auto. The coach is now at my local repair center.

I bet they find a bad thermostat tube that measure the temp.

Our 11 year-old Dometic just died. I understand that the key symptom is whether there's a small pile of yellow powder around the base of the flue. It's sulphur and is a result of chemical reaction between the ammonia in the cooling unit and the propane exhaust.

It means that the cooling unit has died. Folks I've talked to say that 11 years is a pretty good life-span and that I should get a new fridge rather than spend the labor to replace the cooling unit. We'll be doing that next week.

If you ever get stuck with a non-operating fridge while on the road, you can always shut it off and use it like a big cooler. A few bags of ice (put in double bags to prevent ice leakage) will keep a few key items cold for a while, since the fridge is fairly well-insulated. For those double door Dometics, using the freezer part like this would work well so you don't lose some key food items.

Just a handy suggestion if that ever happens to file away!

Get Dry Ice. Available at a lot of places. No water mess and lasts longer.

Just picked it up from repair .It had a bad service module part#3851331011.Boo-boo all kissed and ready for the road.Thank you everyone for all the replies.
