Dometic RM1350 WID Fridge ignition lock

Hello, everyone, I have been going back and forth with my dealer and now FR about the ignition lock on the Dometic fridge. Dometic says that there is no reason that it should NOT be wired up and FR says that they do not hook it up at the factory. When asked why not, they have no answer except to say that it is not a safety issue. Does anyone have this feature working in their unit? Simply put, the fridge locks automatically when the ignition for the engine is turned on. Sounds like a great feature so why not connect it??
Thanks

we need want ours on when traveling thats why mine wouldnt be hooked up if there was such a thing on mine.
I wouldn't want it locked other than maybe the door not to open.

I am with F1100turbo on this one
I like the fact that I can run my fridge when I am traveling - I hate the idea of putting food in a cooler and then having to wait for the fridge to cool down before I can put my food in it or run the risk of food spoiling if in a fridge that isnt on.

I should have explained it better...the lock does nothing other than lock the doors when you start up the coach..great if you forgot to manually lock it before you leave. you can unlock it manually while your in motion if you want to get in it. Does not in any way interfere with it's operation

I wouldnt think it would be all that hard to hook it up - just needs to be on a 12v source that is switched with the ignition.

and I apologize for jumping in - I thought the same thing about the fridge not operating when in motion - didnt realize it was for the locking of the doors only

Hi ! raycyn
My battery compartment cover, when flipped over has a schematic of the Forest River Battery Control Center wiring. If you have this schematic you will see that fuse position #4 is used for the frig door lock. If this is valid then check this fuse position for both a blown fuse and wiring.
If you do not have this drawing I will send you a copy.

Thanks, I will check for it today as I keep my coach in an off site lot. HOA does not allow us to keep any type of trailer ,RV etc. on our lots.
Here is what I have a problem with, after spending almost an hour on the phone with FR, they admit that they do NOT hook it up "on gas units" and can not explain why!! I called Dometic and they say there is no reason they know off NOT to hook it up. If it is already wired for it, why wouldn't FR hook it up??!!!

I reread your post and now see what your talking about.
but what I don't understand is why you so passionate on getting
It hooked up or are worried about it?
My doors in 10 years have never opened while traveling.
just wondering is all.

We have only had this coach for a few months..a couple of trips ago, a quart of milk flew out of one of the doors while we were moving and spilled all over the floor and down into the floor heat vents..it's use is explained in the owners manual and it is set up to do it.. so why isn't it?
If your unit had A/C but it wasn't hooked up.....if you had auto retracted steps but weren't hooked up....if it had power shades but wasn't hooked up....

Ours was hooked up when we picked up the coach in Jan. 2012 FR GT. I like the feature. Can't understand why yours was not hooked up.

Hi, just got back from the coach and there is not a diagram under the battery cover/stairs so if you would, please send a copy to me and THANKS! when my dealer calls me to replace the fridge, I can get him to hook this up at the same time.

I thnk the factoryspokes person is not electrical, mine was hooked up, damaged in installation or handling and since repaired by removing the fridge. Its now working.

Hi ! Ray

I Decided to attach it, just in case some one else needs it.
I hope this helps.

Just a note - this is a FR schematic and I think it suggests
that the FR person you were talking to does not know what
he/she is talking about.
