Dometic toilet help needed

I have a domestic 310 toilet that came standard in my 2016 364.

We are currently in our 4th trip out and last night, it stopped holding water all off a sudden.

I did all the common things:

1. Brushed the underside of the seal
2. Poured very hot water in the bowl
3. Let the ball close hard by slipping foot of the pedal
4. Drizzled some olive oil on the seal
5. Used a gloved finger to push seal down

Nothing worked. Is it at all
Possible for a seal to suddenly fail in the space of one hour? Anything else I can try? The smell
Is unbearable.

Thanks.

That's the way it happens sometimes. If there is a gap between the ball and seal one side of the ball valve may have popped out of its pivot hole down one side below the valve. If so just reach thru opening and pop back in.

X2
BTW, if you do a search for answers, spell the word DOMETIC as I have altered the thread title.

I know how it's spelled but phone decided to correct it and I didn't catch it. I also know how to search, that's how I got the suggestions listed in my first post.

Ball valve issue makes sense.

I've also heard that lack of water pressure has not put enough pressure on the seal and has allowed water to seep through. Not sure if I buy it though.

I just bought a new 310 and out of the box it leaked. Did the hot water trick and it quit leaking. The only thing I did different was to fill the bowl completely to add a little more pressure. Also, you need to leave the water in the bowl until it completely cools so the seal sets.

That was it. I thought the ball was sitting low. Covered my hand with a plastic bag, reached in, and reset it. Works perfect now.

Didn't find that tip anywhere, thanks!

Me neither, has nothing to do with pressure.

Glad you were able to get it working and thank you for posting the fix.

I used to have a 320 in my other rig and considering swapping out my 310. The 320 had a rim that prevented sloshing while travelling and was also more comfortable.

What was interesting is that the extra space it took was towards the rear of the toilet so it sat closer to the wall and didn't take up any valuable space.

I'm not big fan of the 310 comfort or the value its vaunted "swirl" technology. Any reason to keep the 310 over the 320?

I swapped for the 320. Actual adult toilet just like at home, bigger bowl area at top. You can put any seat on it and I installed one of those seats that don't slam when you close it, nice late at night...

If you have a Dometic 300 take a look at this article. There is a defect and dometic will replace it with a 310 o 320 model.

Also, some silicone plumbers grease works on the seal wonders.
