Door Gas Shock Absorber Strut

2015 377XL

Anyone aware of a stronger aftermarket door strut for the Georgetown? I have replaced mine about 4 times. Thank you for your anticipated response.

I'm curious what you replaced? The shock absorber the mounting bracket . I have the same model and things seem to be fine with the the door hardware. My only issue is with closing the door. I really have to slam it to close it.

Be careful about (Stronger Struts) the Door's are only rated for so much! There are times when the mount location is Off location and causes issues! Some Members have added Plates to give more strength to the door or Coach mounting area! Youroo!!

Ya mine got stripped by a gust of wind as well. Got replacement from my dealer, they had them in their store. I looked around at car parts stores and could not find a match for it. Have to make sure you don't go with one that is at a higher compression rating, makes it too hard to close the door then. Did not keep the packaging so can't tell you who makes them. Had the rig in at the dealers at the time and took the old one off and had it in my hand when i was looking for the replacement in the store to make sure i had a proper match. The one under the dinette table has gone now as well, but i am using a bungee cord instead and it works better than the strut ever did.

Original strut on my door destroyed my door. Had to replace entire door under warranty. Wish there was a way to secure the door when open. Even a little wind causes it to bounce a bit and pulls against the door frame.

Because of the way the door is built I do not leave my door open when there is any wind. The my door was damaged by a wind.

First day out wife opens door, wind grabs door and strut ends strips out.

What fun.

Don't want to put in steel ones because i would rater replace a $2 part than an expensive door.

Been there done that. First trip out. Told her she broke the camper. Dealer put a heavier one in under warranty.

I told her the same thing. She had the temerity to tell me it broke her fingernail. Worst part I was stopping so she could shop in the outlets.

I know, right?

My GT does not have a strut closer. The door opens all the way back to a bumper and clip (CW #49608) on the outside wall. Just have to hang on to the screen door cross bar (CW #35872) when its windy.
