emergency brake

I have a 2012 Georgetown 378.the emergency brake never worked good,so went to dealership and they said it could be leaking or what ever.i can burry this brake and it is nothing.made appointment for Tuesday to get it checked out.has anybody else had this problem???????????? Pete

The emergency brake is not like a car and is actually a brake on the output of the transmssion shaft. See the attached pictures. It is a heavy cable going to the unit. Not sure how it works but their is a fluid fill port in one of the Ford Pictures.

It's actually just a parking brake not an actual emergency brake as we have in cars. Emergency brake in cars apply the brakes to the rear wheels. This unit applies braking shoes to the transmission output shaft (it is isolated from the tranny). There is fluid in the unit. My Georgie Boy MH unit failed and was $450.00 replacement item. When mine failed there was a puddle right under the unit where the fluid leaked out the drain hole on the bottom of the assembly. Your assembly should be under Ford warranty.
