Expensive Hunting trip

Sons and I took our annual hunting trip to southern Ohio. First morning got up calm wind headed to tree stand. About two hours later wind picked up/ picked up phone to call son who was only 200 yds from RV to tell him to close awning. To late, phone was ringing it was my son he was on top of MH sitting on awning which ripped off an was banging on top of rv. So much for opening morning. Getting back to MH I could see the mess it caused, Scratched up entry door good, ripped off rear main brackets to MH, smashed digital antenna wing on top of RV. Got out knife an wrenches and took it all apart, no way to rewind.

On the way home, 5x8 trailer I haul atv on blew outer wheel bearing 20 miles from home.

My stupidity not putting awning back in before heading out is going to be covered by insurance under comprehensive. Zero deductible. Thank you state farm. 3 claims in two years, I wouldn't be surprised. Tow job, road side for tire repair, and now this.

Always when not at camper for any reason I never leave out the awning

having a farm and a boat , camper I repack wheel bearing once a year
its no fun to have a hay wagon loaded with hay with 3 wheels on the road or a grain wagon loaded in the field and rain on the way

Wheel bearings are one item that get little pm from many people

guy across the street from me bought a brand new 20ft stock trailer and only used it one time to haul a few pigs and cow to market and after one year in the spring he pulled one wheel to check bearings and found so little grease in them . If he had made a long haul they would have burned up and it was a brand name all aluminum trailer a feather light

lessons learned

Lesson 1, Always close awning when not using it.

Lesson 2, Check wheel bearing grease every year on both trailers....
