Fireplace problem

My fireplace lights but doesn't have that fire look to it anymore nor does it put out any heat. It's not under warranty. I can't seem to get anyone to work on it. My normal tech says he doesn't work on them and neither does the local RV dealer.

Anyone else have this problem? If so, what did you do?

Tear it out and place it firmly in the nearest garbage can. Then go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a new one.

Sad to say, I have to agree with Donn.

We've become a disposable society in so many things, and these electric fireplaces are no different. The time and money spent investigating one would be more than just buying a replacement.......and the newer ones are even more authentic than last years!!!!!!!

Fireplace woes

Yes, I agree with both of you sadly. I called Forest River and that is what they guy there told me to do. I hate to say it too but I think Forest River supplies these things with cheap products that don't last. I have a 08 Forest River and the DVD player and the fireplace have broke. Same strategy is to just through this stuff away and replace with something that will last longer than 2 years. Both of these companies (DVD and fireplace company) have gone out of business too.

So the next question might be, has anyone replaced their fireplace with one from Home Depot or Lowe's??? Will anyone do? Do I need to be worried about size dimensions?

Pull the old one out and take a tape measure to get the dimensions. Then go shopping for one that will fit the dimensions you have.

We have two electric fireplace units in the house, both made by Dimplex. They have realistic looking flames....better than other brands we've seen. We've had them in the house for over 5 years, and no problems. Dimplex is also the most popular brand used in a lot of today's RV units, regardless of what company makes the RV.

I also have a dimplex and they had a recall on the remotes. They sent me a new unit that plugs in and a new remote.Works great. You can contact them on the web.
