Front AIR UNIT was running while set on FURNACE

Good Monday morning, and Happy Holiday to all.

It turned cold in Wilis, TX last night. To make sure my first and new 2016 Georgetown XL 352QS RV is protected, I went out and turn on the ARTIC PAC heating pad, as well as turned on the furnaces.

I noticed that the front and rear furnace ran fine, but the front overhead air unit was alse running as well and put out some cool (not cold) air. Is this normal? I set the temperature at 50, we were not sleeping in it, this morning when I came out and check it, the furnace was off, because the temperature was reached at 50 but the overhead unit is still running until I turn off the thermostat.

Note that the rear overhead unit was not running when set the thermostat on furnace.

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks
Tam Le

Set your FAN mode to AUTO (AU) not HI or LO.

You need to set the fan setting on the thermostat to auto. This will solve the problem.

It's a setting on the thermostat. It runs the fan only. It can be turned off on the thermostat so the A/C fan doesn't run with the heater. I went through this a year ago with ours. I don't remember the exact procedure to change it. However it wasn't difficult. AUX setting or something like that.
Good Luck.

Many thanks for all of your wonderful responses and help.

You were right, the rear unit was set on AUTO but my front was set on LO. I did changed to AUTO for FAN then set the FURNACE on 50, the system ran fine now.

It really isn't a 'problem' but rather an option.
Many folks confuse this option as something wrong with their system.

It is a setting provided so you can use the A/C fan to distribute the heated air (hot air rises) to more evenly distribute the furnace air, throughout the camper. You can have it on, or have it off. Your choice.

On my 2016 Rockwood 8329SS the front unit is also a heat pump. So in Heat mode it blows air that is basically a bit warmer than the room air. It may feel cold but it's actually warming slowly. The rear unit runs the propane heat. So as long as it isn't really cold I can use my electric fireplace in the living space and the heat pump in the front bedroom to heat the entire rig without using propane unless. Your's may be set up the same way.

ac fan

If the A/C fan is on you must be plugged in. Is there a heat strip on the A/C unit? Or, if you have a electric space heater, use it and save the propane.

I have a 2015 Georgetown 270S. Whenever I use the heat, the AC blower comes on and stays on constantly. My resolution is to put the A/C breaker to the Off position. This way the AC blower doesn't come on and I am getting jus the heat.

Scroll your thermostat to change the “fan” setting.
Instead of “hi” or “lo” set it to “auto”, then the furnace only will work.

I also have a 2017 270S. A few times my dometic was set to heat, but the ac came on, not heat. It wasn't just a blower issue. My best investigation seemed to point to erroneous programming in the thermostat that gets activated when it gets really cold - less than 45 degrees F. It has done it more than once, but not every time it gas gotten cold. My 270S is in my driveway plugged in 24/7 and I monitor all systems every day.
