Front License Plate

Our 2012 357XL has no place to attach a front license plate which is required in Illinois. Has anybody added a bracket if so I'm looking for some ideas. In the meantime we are carrying the plate inside, hopefully we won't have any problems.

I took an old licence plate, put it on the back side of the grille and bolted the new plate thru it .

I too am carrying my plate inside for the time being. On another thread folks warned against attaching the plate in anyway to the lower grill screen as the wind resistance that creates will simply blow the entire lower grill off. Someone else suggested a cheap license plastic bracket from Walmart fit between the two grill screens would work. You have to drill a couple of holes and bend the bracket a bit to fit the curve of your front end. That's what I'm gonna try just as soon as I get 'round to it.

Front License Plate Holder

I told my dealer when I picked it up new, that he could afford to put a license plate holder on it. We are in Washington and a front license plate is required.

I'm also in Illinois, we just carry the extra plate inside in our Georgetown 351DS. The dealer said he didn't have the heart to drill holes in our new front but gave us the option. I intend to just carry it inside or lay it on the dash until it becomes an issue.

If I need to mount it permanently I too will be looking for something secure and nice looking. It's funny that most (I think) states now require a front place but GT doesn't provide a nice place to mount it.

I am in NJ where a front plate is also required. I have not mounted mine for 5 years and have not had an issue. Carry it in the compartment.

I have an old hot rod with no front plate and i live in Illinois as well. i have 2 city cops and 1 state trooper in my neighborhood, and all just wave their hand and say pishaw, I have other things to worry about than whether you have a plate displayed on the front or not. They said as long as it is in the car and can be produced to prove, they were good with that. Yeah, take it for what its worth, this being the internet and all. Just my experience with 3 different cops. Not to say the 4th one wont go all barney fife on me.......

My dealer drilled a couple of holes right below my grill and mounted my plate. No big deal.

Live in Texas and we are required to have front plate also, however mine is still not attached and its been 2 years and 14000 miles and not one stop by cops. If they do stop me " oops must have blown off or stolen im sorry officer I will get it taken care of."
