Furnace start up

Hi All,

I have a 2013 Georgetown 361DS that I bought this spring. I suspect that this weekend may be the first time I have to use the furnace. Other than turning on the propane and setting the thermostat are there any other steps to using it? In the back there is a heat strip. I'm assuming that just needs the power (shore or genny) running. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for any guidance you may have.
Eric

If you have never run the furnace, there may be some air in the lines so it may take a few times to light. Run the stove for a minute or two to help clear lines. After 3-4 tries, the furnacre goes into safe mode and will not try to start. If this happens, remove the fuse for the furnace for a minute then reinstall. This will reset the controller then try again.

Do not be alarmed by the smell coming from the furnace it will dissipate after awhile. Don't be alarmed if the O2 or smoke detectors go off. These things can happen if the furnace has not been operated for a while. The heat strip is in the air conditioner. it could take some time for heat to appear. Just some thoughts

Thanks! So the furnace sounds similar to the water heater in regard to clearing air in the lines. So all I need to do once has on and stove run is to set the furnace to heat? Where do I find the fuse if needed? How will I know if it goes in safe mode? Sorry for the basic questions but thanks for the help!

Thanks bubbles. I think I will fire up the furnace as a test and to clear the smells tomorrow morning so as to not freak out the family if we turn it on that night. :-)

Thanks again for the advice everyone. Furnace startup went well. Thanks to the guidance to pre-start with windows open, I also avoided freaking out the kids and DW. Much appreciated!
