Gas Gauge Accuracy

My wife and I are currently on a tour of the Great Lakes and have stopped for gas a couple of times when the "low fuel" warning came on saying "50 miles to E". When filling up I've noticed that I can't get more than 65 gallons in. Has anyone tested the tank capacity versus what the warning says?

I never ever allow my fuel to fall below 1/4. I like to make fuel stops more frequently so I can stretch. Plus I can usually fill up with one swipe of the cars rather than 2. My experience has been that fuel gauges aren't very precise.

Yeah, ordinarily I'm with ya in the frequent fill-ups. The circumstances were odd causing me to wait longer than I'm comfortable doing. I should have said that I have a 2014 328TS. There seems to be a big difference between the 80 gallon tank and the low fuel warning.

Fuel Guage Accuracy

I find that with my 80 gallon tank, the gauge is pretty accurate. Each quarter tank takes about 20 gallons to fill. I have tried it at all stages, and it is pretty consistent.
