Are you talking about with or without the engine running? I haven't tried it to see how long just on house batteries alone. However, it runs non stop while driving because the motor is charging the house batteries as well.

I was wondering about without the engine running. I was told from our salesman that a Forest River rep quoted him 11 hours.

For the cummins onan generators the answer is an EC30W auto start.

I just put one in.

Joining in, just bought a 2014 GT 328TS over the weekend, haven't yet taken it out, but will do this weekend.

Is it okay to turn on generator while you are driving the rig? Have never had a MH before or the luxury of a generator so wondering if it's "safe" to turn on generator while you're actually driving or can you only do it when stopped? Sorry for such a newbie question!!

The generator is made to run while the coach is driving, to run the AC and other appliances.

Yes you can turn on and off while driving the coach. Have fun with your Georgetown.

I agree. We use the auto start to turn the gen set on if we loose power when camping and are away from the rig. We have a Labrador retriever and it keeps the ac going

Do you leave the generator on along with shore power when you are away from your rig for the dogs? Or do you mean your generator automatically kicks on if shore power goes out at the camp site? If it's the latter, can you tell me how you do that?

The later. The module is made to turn the gen set on if the shore power goes out and the inside rig temp goes up in summer by 2 degrees or more which you can set or in the heating season if it goes down by two or more degrees. It also monitors the batteries and auto starts the gen set if they go too low and the shore power goes out. It is a very nice system. It really takes care of all of the issues stated in this thread.

I'm having a difficult time understanding on how this system would work in my 2011 Georgetown 360F as I have to perform the following steeps in order to change over from shore power (120V) to generator power (120V).
A. While shore line power cord is plugged into external source & I wish to use the coaches generator for 120V power, I must unplug the RV shore line plug from the external source and then plug it into the internal generator power outlet box located in driver side rear storage bay next to the generator bay underneath the floor of my coach.
B. If I want to utilize a external source of power (120V) rather than generator supplied (120V) power, reverse the steeps listed in A.
Does anyone know if I'm missing some sort of a automatic switching system within my coach's electrical system, or does the EC-30W system supply the hardware to make it work.

Yeah u need an auto transfer switch.

Turbs is correct. A transfer switch is simply a electo magnet switch which defaults to the shore power when available. If not the gen will supply the power via the opposite contacts if it is on line. Available at dealers and rv repsir shops.

Sorry for asuming you had an auto transfer switch. Like the replies before this I agree, you must have one. It is an option that is a very common one to have.

That will bring you cost to the $600 if you do it yourself. Not cheap but you can get an I Phone app to tell you if something went wrong, however it wont fix it like this will.
