Generator stopped powering RV

Hello All,

It's me again. We are out and had the generator on for about 6 hours yesterday and all went well.

This morning I went to turn it on and it would stop after 1 or 2 minutes.

Then we tried a 3rd time it ran but nothing is on in the motorhome, what should I check?

See if the fuses tripped on the generator.
Can you hear the transfer box engaging?

Top it up and you should be good ,if you unplug the sensor you can run it just to see if thats the problem.

If it is low perhaps it is time for a service, do you know if it has an oil filter?

I only use my generator when hunting at it runs about 8 hours a day for 6 days. Even when new it would run low on oil.

This may be a long shot but are the A/C's turned off?
Also some transfer switches make a "clucking" sound when they try to engage after 30 seconds or so from starting the generator. Do you hear anything like that?

All is off. I don't think it makes a clucking noise.

Not sure if they had anything to do with it but when we had the heater on the floor got very very hot this morning, like I said not sure if that has anything to do with it.

When you say floor heater are you referring to the propane furnace or is it an electrical 110 volt plug in heater?

If you are not comfortable working with electricity then there is not much else you can do. AND DON'T IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE.
Sometimes there are small fuses inside the transfer switch box but there again you will be next to dangerous high voltage when plugged in to shore power or with the generator running.

After thinking about your heater getting very very hot, it could mean your generator is putting out too much voltage. That could also mess up you inverter inside the generator keeping it from generating electricity.

Wrapperman the heater works on gas so no load should be on it except for some battery power to run it.

Not too comfortable around electricity so we will wait for the RV guy to take a look at it Monday, unless I could check the fuses now while dry camping.

If the generator is NOT running then you can look inside the transfer switch box to see if there are any fuses that went bad. It's worth a shot.
Cheaper than a repair man.

I'm with you I would love for us to figure it out.

The generator runs every time. The problem is nothing in the RV comes on.
