It’s like playing a puzzle isn’t it?
Then use aluminum portable steps when two powered steps aren’t enough.

If I’m right (does happen from time to time)

I would see about removing the short vertical bars on each side connecting the second step to the bottom step, and moving them to replace the long vertical bars connecting the top step to the second. I’m pretty sure I could then have the third step out of the picture....or did I miss something else?

I thought about it the same way. The pivot points are not bolts, but actually pressed bolt. Click image for larger version

So it would be grind the heads off and then install bolts.

Excellent close up photograph dhind.
It was a friends rig with 3 steps not mine with two steps that I was addressing might be able to be changed. I did not get to see it close enough to see it used a pressed bolt.

Not sure why a pressed bolt is used instead of a regular bolt. Regular bolts would probably give you the flexibility to do the conversion from 3 steps to two.

What do you think?

Agree. A couple of hours work. Grinder and some high quality bolts and a little Tremclad paint.

What appears to be pressed down bolts is actually a steel rod on the middle step and bolts on the lower step.

Watching closely. Let me know if you follow thru with the mod to the steps.

Good luck

It will probably be the spring to tackle the job. I will post when and if I remove the step.
