Georgetown 378XL Dining Table Remod

Hello:
Has anyone done a remodel on the Dining Table? Ours is bolted down by 2 Knobs and is not really stable. I am thinking of doing a re-model with a narrow table top that extends across the eating area and mount an extension that can be pulled out for additional room.

Any thoughts on were to purchase the hardward/brackets needed?

Thanks,

Uncle Al

I'll be watching this one. Have never liked the flimsy table and would like to do some kind of mod.

I am trying to research some table hardware to be able to manufacturer a Credenza with a pull out table, but cannot find a source for anything but Dinettes.

I will keep searching.

Is your table top bowed? Ours has a distinct warp to it. Once we get settled in Georgia for our workamping I'll take a hard look at a fix of some sort.

The top is not bowed. I think the instability is due to the small floor footprint at the base and the fact that the table is connected by only 2 turn screws. When we remove the table from the mounts to expand, it is still unstable. Just a very poor design. I have heard of companies in Indiana that may do some mods, but no definite names or parts that can be used. I will keep you in mind if I find anything helpful.

I added a leg to each end,got the legs and screw in plates at home depot.Add the out side leg when table is bolted down, and both when table is moved out.Makes the table a lot more stable.

That's an idea! Still need to get the table top straight, not bowed/warped.

Nope, can't make it. Wish we could.

We are experiencing the same issues with our table in the Georgetown 378. I don't think it's bowed, but it definitely slants down towards the center of the RV and feels unstable. When I removed it from the bolts, it wouldn't even stand on its own! I like the idea of adding legs--seems like a relatively easy fix. I'll be curious to see what others come up with.

I have put a wedge under the leg on the low side. It still is not as stable as we would like but is level now. I will watch to see what you come up with in legs to make it more stable.

Wow, glad we don't have these problems. I put a slide lock on ours to hole the top from sliding black and forth, works well and no wobbling at all, very stable little table. When we have it out for 4 people to dine it's quite stable. Never had a problem. Previously we had a 5 th wheel and this table is a huge improvement.

Georgetown 378 Table

Finally took possession of our 378 and had the dealer replace the table. Not perfect, but better than the original. I spoke to Craig Fawcett at Georgetown and noted the many posting on the web regarding the table. He is in the process of testing a new prototype, which will be available later if approved. Not sure if they will do any replacing, but this model does look better.

Not sure if eating on the table while it is bolted down is a great idea. If you step on the portion of the slide that if floating, you could damage the particle board the table is attached to. Anyone have this concern?

Are you talking about eating at the table when the slide is in? Our slide floor is quite stable when the slide is out. But not so much when the slide is in. We don't use the table for anything when the slide is in. Anyway...I haven't had a chance to look at the table's stability issue, just need to get "round-to-it".

I have the same floating slide when it's in and was told by a factory rep to NOT step on it as damage could occur.

Of course, I don't have a Georgetown. I assume you're directions would be similar.

I used a piece of 1/2" iron pipe, screwed into a "floor flange" about 2.5" diameter this end is placed on the floor inside of the slide floor. The other end is lightly wedged under the table on the inboard side right on the center hinge, using a plastic cap. Don't recall the length but I custom cut it to fit. The table will never be stable but this upward pressure tightens up the sliding pedestal grooves and steadies it dramatically while leveling. The assembly is painted with flat black paint and easily stowed for travel.

A picture would be nice.

We often eat lunch at our table with the slide in when we are traveling. We did the same in fifth wheels that we had before we got the Georgetown. That is one of the pluses of having an RV. It's good eating a healthy meals rather then always eating in restaurants. It's not always possible to put out the slide in a rest stop.

Falcon and anyone else who's interested: Table is now quite steady and usable, no issues with dancing dishes.... Standard 12" pipe fittings.
